Restorative Practices in Motion
Restorative Practices has been heavily implemented this school year, spearheaded by our Restorative Discipline Facilitator Mr. Chris Wilson. Restorative practices foster an environment of belonging instead of exclusion, a method of building deep meaningful relationships, a tool for repairing harm, an alternative to punitive discipline and a learned behavior that is healthy for every person to embody. Brazos High/Lake Waco Acceleration Academy is skilled at using innovative restorative practices to create safe spaces on campus through violence prevention, circle process, restorative conversations and empathy development by listening to all issues involving the student, their families, friends, community and all stakeholders. Pictured is an example of the LWAA students with their teachers Mrs. Jacobo and Ms. Stone conducting a “get to know you” circle.
