Waco ISD Police Department seeks help identifying burglary suspect

On May 2, the Rogers Lady Eagles traveled to Waco for game one of their playoff series against West. During the game, an unknown individual stole personal items, including wallets and backpacks, from the team’s bus, which was left unlocked and unattended. This individual also stole items from at least one other vehicle, an SUV, which was also parked at the Waco ISD softball complex during the game.

The Waco ISD Police Department determined that debit and credit cards stolen from the vehicles were later used to make purchases at H-E-B stores in Waco and Temple and obtained images of the individual who made those transactions from security cameras at the stores. The department is asking for the public’s assistance identifying the individual pictured in those images.

In the photos, the suspect is seen wearing a tan and sage, green or grey cap with a round black and white logo on it; a black jacket with white stripes on its sleeve; and a light-colored shirt under the jacket. In addition to seeking assistance identifying the individual in the images, the department is also asking for public’s help to identify the logo on his hat.

Based on the individual’s mannerisms, appearance and method of operation, the department believes that this may be the same individual suspected of stealing credit cards and a wallet from three vehicles during a football game between the McGregor Bulldogs and the West Trojans in McGregor last October.

In both incidents, the suspect used the stolen debit/credit cards to purchase Visa gift cards and drove a white Chevrolet Malibu (possibly from model years 2010-2012). The department is also releasing images of the suspect’s vehicle taken from security cameras outside the H-E-B stores.

“Because of its location and its amenities, the Waco ISD athletic complex is one of the most popular playoff venues in the state,” Waco ISD Police Chief David Williams said. “It is entirely unacceptable that someone would take advantage of the excitement of a playoff game to steal from student athletes, coaches and fans who are here as our guests. We’re asking for the public’s help to make sure this is the last time that this individual does this.”

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or the logo on his hat is asked to call the Waco ISD Police Department at 254-752-0858.
