Waco ISD Police Department welcomes new K-9

Dalton, a Dutch Shepherd in K-8 harness, sitting K-9 Dalton, a Dutch Shepherd, joins the Waco ISD Police Department following Gero's retirement in June of this year. 

K-9 Dalton, now 3 and a half years old, was born in Sint-Oedenrode, Netherlands, where he began his training at Police Dogs Centre Holland. Once he turned three, he was transferred to USK9 Unlimited in Abbeville, Louisiana, and continued his training.

Waco ISD Police Officer Larry Martinez was selected as the newest K-9 Officer for the department and attended training in Louisiana with Dalton for 4 weeks, with a focus on narcotics detection.

K-9 Dalton joins the department thanks to a grant from K9s4COPS, who also previously funded Gero's placement with Waco ISD.
