With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and book by Roger O. Hirson, the show and its infectiously unforgettable score tell the story of Pippin, a young prince who longs to find passion and adventure in his life, and along the way learns the true meaning of glory, love and war. Heir to the Frankish throne, the young prince Pippin is in search of the secret to true happiness and fulfillment. In the end, though, Pippin finds that happiness lies not in extraordinary endeavors, but rather in the unextraordinary moments that happen every day. Pippin’s message is universal and will connect with audiences across the age spectrum.

Directed and choreographed by Bob Fosse, the musical first opened on Broadway in 1972 starring Ben Vereen as the Leading Player. It was nominated for eleven Tony Awards including Best Musical, with Vereen winning for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical, Fosse for Best Direction of a Musical and Best Choreography, and also Best Scenic Design. The circus-inspired 2013 revival won an additional four Tony Awards.
