Waco ISD Academic Achievers honored

The Waco ISD Advanced Academics Department honored the 2018 “Academic Achievers” at three separate banquets held at the Baylor Club in May.

The Waco ISD Advanced Academics Department honored the 2018 “Academic Achievers” at three separate banquets In keeping with the longstanding tradition of this event a family member and a guest educator accompanied each student. The students select an educator who has had a significant influence on their academic success, whether from elementary, middle or high school.

Waco ISD Academic Achievers are sophomore, junior, and seniors who have earned a cumulative grade point average of 96.5. In the first year of becoming an academic achiever, students receive a letter jacket for earning the recognition. Those students earning the award in subsequent or multiple years are awarded additional letter “bars” for their jacket.

With the large number of achievers from both high schools and the limited space of the Baylor Club, the event had to be divided this year.

Seniors from both University High School and Waco High School were recognized at a combined banquet on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. To view photos from the UHS/WHS Seniors event, click here.
