The Grey Wolves finally had enough of one of the state's longest losing streaks (27) and came out firing on all cylinders and maintained that intensity throughout the contest defeating the Lions, 47-10 Friday night at Leo Buckley Stadium.
Waco High started the scoring off of a Shoemaker botched punt which, four plays later, resulted in a Chris Esqueda field goal. The lead was short lived as the Grey Wolves answered with two touchdowns to go up 15-3 in the second quarter. Randy Carpenter added a score late in the half to trim the Shoemaker lead to 15-10, but again the Grey Wolves would reciprocate and extend the cushion back to twelve, 22-10 going into halftime.
In the 2nd half Shoemaker put it on cruise control scoring four additional touchdowns and coasted to the final margin of 37.
With the loss, Waco drops to (1-6; 0-5) and hosts the undeated and state ranked Wildcats from Temple this Friday at 7:30 at Waco ISD Stadium still searching for their first district win.
