Week 5 - Waco falls to Midway 57-7

Waco falls to Midway 57-7 Coming off a bye week, which meant an extra week to not only prepare for Midway but to heal up from any bumps and bruises, didn't seem to help slow the Panthers offense on Friday night.

The Lion defense made its presence known early on as they stopped Midway's first two drives of the game. The Lions couldn't take advantage of the turnover on downs on Midway's first drive and after a forced fumble on the Panther's 2nd possession, Midway's defense came up big with a stop of their own forcing yet another punt.

Midway finally hit paydirt on their next drive going 75 yards to go up 7-0 which completed the scoring in the first frame. Both defenses bowed up in the 2nd quarter until the Panthers broke through late on two scoring drives to go into the half leading 22-0.

The lead grew to 36 before the Lions finally broke the plane of the endzone. Midway again answered with a TD to close out the 3rd quarter leading 43-7. The Midway defense continued its dominance in the final frame shutting the Lion offense out while scoring twice more to close the books on the evening at 57-7.

Midway (3-1; 3-0) racked up 534 yards and held the Lions (1-3; 0-2) to just 157 yards and forced four turnovers. Midway is idle this week and Waco travels to Copperas Cove this Friday, Oct. 5, at 7:30 to try and collect their first district win.
