Bradford McMillan Joins Waco ISD as Tennyson Middle School Principal

WACO, TX - Waco ISD Superintendent Dr. Susan Kincannon has selected Bradford McMillan as the next Principal of Tennyson Middle School. McMillan comes to Waco ISD with over 12 years of  experience in public education, including five years of secondary school administration experience.

He began his teaching career as a middle school English teacher before moving to Killeen High School where he taught biology, chemistry, physics, algebra and English I and II. He moved into campus administration in 2017 as an assistant principal at the Killeen ISD Career Center and is currently an assistant principal at Killeen High School.

McMillan holds a Master's degree from Tarleton State University and a Bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. He also currently serves in the Texas Army National Guard. McMillan is married to Margarita who is an elementary school teacher. 

He has been described as an instructional leader that builds solid relationships with students and parents, has excellent communication skills, and a keen ability to support his fellow colleagues.

“My family and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to serve the Tennyson Middle School family,” said McMillan. “ I’m looking forward to building on the foundation of excellence and family atmosphere that currently exists at Tennyson.”

McMillan will begin work on January 2 and current Interim Principal Rudy Valdez will transition into another role with Waco ISD.

“Waco ISD is happy to welcome Bradford McMillan to the team, “ said Waco ISD Superintendent Dr. Susan Kincannon. “By all accounts and as seen through his interactions with Tennyson staff, Bradford understands that educational leadership is both head and heart work. I am confident in his abilities to lead with character and for the results that our students, staff and families deserve.”

Principal McMillan will host a family meet-and-greet at Tennyson Middle School on Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the cafeteria.
