BACKGROUND: Tennyson Middle School will hold a celebration at 5 p.m. Thursday, September 6, 2018 to mark the completion of the Locker Library Project, a recently completed two-year campuswide improvement project. Light refreshments will be served, and guests will have an opportunity to donate copies of the "locker books" to the school library. The reception is open to the public.
Since the summer of 2016, students, parents, faculty, volunteers and supporters of the school have pitched in to help paint each locker with the title of an age-appropriate book. Now, all 637 lockers are painted with a different book title. The project has brightened the campus and celebrates the importance of reading and literacy for students. It was made possible by the generous support of numerous volunteers and organizations including students from Baylor University and McLennan Community College, the National Charity League, Home Depot and the Tennyson Middle School PTA.
