The tone was set early in this one on a Spartan interception on the first play of the game resulting in a touchdown just five plays later and University's two game winning streak came to an abrupt end, 42-0, at Waco ISD Stadium.
Centennial scored on their first three possessions of the game while the Trojans added to their woes with a short punt on their second series resulting in a short field for the Spartans.
University lined up for a field goal early in the 2nd to try and cut the lead to 11 but the kick hit the crossbar and Centennial took the ensuing drive to the house for a commanding 21-0 lead.
With their star running back out with a knee injury, the Trojans had difficulty moving the ball consistently and had little to no ground game. Obie Cooper gave yeomanlike effort and finished the night with 68 yards on the ground but turnovers plagued the Trojans all evening long as the Spartans managed to take the ball away five times. Defensively, University gave up 392 yards but came up big on two separate occasions stopping the Spartans on 4th and 1, one of those inside the two yard line.
With the loss, University drops to (3-4; 2-3) and has the unenviable task of going on the road to face the juggernaut known as the Aledo Bearcats who are undefeated and ranked #1 in the state. Aledo is averaging 51 points per game while allowing only 13.
