To help students start the new school year ready to learn, Waco ISD is hosting its seventh-annual family fest for district students and their families.
This free event will give parents the opportunity to register their student(s) for the 2018-2019 school year if they haven’t already done so. Registered students can receive a voucher for a free backpack with school supplies to be redeemed at Family Fest while supplies last. Vouchers are only available at the designated feeder campus booths, and families must attend the event at the high school to which they are zoned in order to register and receive the vouchers.
The following campuses should attend Family Fest at University High School: Alta Vista Elementary, Bell's Hill Elementary, Cesar Chavez Middle School, Kendrick Elementary and South Waco Elementary.
The following campuses should attend Family Fest at Waco High School: Brazos High Credit Recovery Center, Brook Avenue Elementary, Cedar Ridge Elementary, Crestview Elementary, Dean Highland Elementary, G.W. Carver Middle School, J.H. Hines Elementary, Indian Spring Middle School, Mountainview Elementary, Parkdale PDS Elementary, Provident Heights Elementary, Tennyson Middle School/ATLAS and West Avenue Elementary.
Lake Air Montessori Magnet and Hillcrest PDS Elementary will be represented at both high schools.
Vision and dental screenings, blood pressure and cholesterol checks, and immunizations will be available. Parents are asked to bring an insurance card and driver license if their students need immunizations. In addition, free food and entertainment will be offered, and many local community organizations and businesses will be in attendance at both locations.
Bus transportation will be provided to and from all elementary and middle school campuses as well as the former North Waco campus. The bus schedule, which includes pick-up and drop-off times, can be found at wacoisd.org/familyfest.
