Accessing Lessons

 Grades PK-5

Students in grades PK-5 will use Seesaw as the learning management system (LMS).  Remote instruction and communication will be assigned through this LMS. Teachers will post announcements, share teaching videos, make assignments, and provide feedback using Seesaw.

Each student will receive a unique Home Learning Code to access Seesaw. When signing in with their Home Learning Code, students can post to their journal, respond to activities, and view class announcements. Students do not see the work of any other student in the class.

Through Seesaw, students are also able to share their learning with family members. Teachers will send designated family members an invite to connect to their child’s journal. The student journal helps keep families in the loop and engaged in their child’s learning through personalized, easy-to-use, safe, and visual updates. Teachers will also use Seesaw to send family members messages and reminders. Seesaw is private. You’ll only see posts created by your child or their teacher. The following link provides additional information about connecting to Seesaw. Seesaw

 Grades 6-12

Students in grades 6-12 will use Canvas as the LMS. Like students in grades PK-5, remote instruction and communication will be similarly assigned through the LMS. Canvas will facilitate teacher-student communication and provide a platform for sharing content and lessons, assignments, and tracking student progress. Parents and guardians can view their students' courses by creating a Canvas Observer account linked to their accounts. This will allow family members to see the course modules page, preview course documents, view the course calendar, view course announcements, access their student’s conversations through course messaging (if copied by the teacher or student), and communicate with teachers. The steps for connecting to Canvas as an Observer can be found by clicking on this link.

Steps for Canvas Parent Connect

In addition to Seesaw and Canvas, teachers will use Zoom as the video conferencing tool to provide synchronous instruction and support. WISD students also have access to various instructional tools and apps through the district portal called Clever. Before instruction begins, review the platforms and the FAQ links for helpful tips, the WISD Student Agreements, and the Family Roles and Responsibilities for remote instruction.  Select the link(s) below to learn more about each of these technology tools
