Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Becky Kersh

Biography: I was born and raised in Temple, TX and after graduating I attend Baylor University.  I majored in elementary education and after completing my degree, I got my first teaching job in DeSoto, Texas teaching second grade.  I would go on to teach third grade, fourth grade, and fifth grade for a total of 9 years with most of my teaching years spent with Mesquite ISD.  While I was teaching, I worked on my masters in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of North Texas.  My next adventure started with Allen ISD as a science instructional coach at an elementary campus.  I loved my job, but my husband decided he wanted to attend Baylor Law School so we moved back to the area.  I served as the district math coordinator and coach for West ISD for 6 years and then served as an instructional coach in Midway ISD.  I moved from Midway to Waco ISD.  This will be my 2nd year at South Waco Elementary serving as the math/science instructional coach and my 19th year in education.  I have been married for 13 years and have 3 children.  My oldest is 9 and my youngest is 3.  They definitely keep me on my toes and very busy when I am not at work.   My hobbies are spending time with my family and working out. I love to run and do Yoga before I come to work to start my day energized.

My Why: ALL students can learn! They may learn at different rates and ways, but all are capable of growing.  ALL students deserve the best that we can give them no matter their story.  ALL students can achieve if we hold them accountable to high expectations.  The important thing to remember is to never give up on ANY student.  They ALL need someone to believe in them to help them soar.
