How long does the process take?
The application process generally takes 3-4 weeks, including fingerprints if required.
- Fingerprints cost $49.26 - this is covered by the district for all new substitues for the 2022-2023 school year.

How do I know where I am at in the hiring process?

Why do I need to attend a new hire orientation?
You are not hired until you attend a Guest Educator Orientation to complete the hiring process and be eligible to begin work.
Where are Guest Educator Orientations Held? Guest Educator Orientations are held at the Waco ISD Administration Building at 501 Franklin Avenue, Waco, Texas 76701. Upon arrival, check in with the receptionist.
What should I bring to the Guest Educator Orientation? Bring the following documents with you:

What happens at Guest Educator Orientation?
- Work authorization documents will be verified.
- Pre-employment affidavit will be completed.
- District directory password will be established.
- Letter of Reasonable Assurance will be signed.
- Basic employment information will be presented.
- The entire hiring process takes about 3 hours.

Guest Educator Hiring Requirements

Certified Guest Educator
- Valid teaching certification (Texas or out of state)
- Official college transcript
- Pay rate will be:
- $125/day for Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
- $130/day for Mondays and Fridays
- $5 additional for special education classrooms
- $150/day for long term assignments (long term rate starts on day 11)

Degreed Guest Educator
- Official college transcript showing an awarded Bachelor's degree from an accredited school.
- Pay rate will be:
- $100/day for Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
- $105/day for Mondays and Fridays
- $5 additional for special education classrooms
- $125/day for long term assignments (long term rate starts on day 11)

Non-Degreed Guest Educator
- Official college transcript showing a minimum of 30 hours earned from an accredited school.
- Pay rate will be:
- $100/day on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
- $105/day on Mondays and Fridays
- $5 additional for special education classrooms
- $115/day for long term assignments (long term rate starts on day 11)

- High school diploma, GED or official college transcript
- RN or LVN License
- Pay rate will be:
- $150/day Tuesdays, Wednesays and Thursdays
- $155/day Mondays and Fridays

- High school diploma, GED or official college transcript
- Pay rate will be:
- $80/day for Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
- $85/day for Mondays and Fridays

Guest Educator Application Process

Online Guest Educator Application
- Complete and submit the online application.
- Be sure you select the substitute career area that you qualify for.
- Please provide a current email address, as this will be our only way of contacting you.
- Refer to the Guest Educator Hiring Requirements for information on required documents. We cannot proceed with the hiring process until all documents and references are received.

Fingerprint Check
- Waco ISD will check your fingerprint status with the Texas Education Agency.
- If the TEA requires you to provide fingerprints, we will email you the information. Do not have your fingerprints taken until you are emailed with specific instructions; otherwise, they may be invaild for WISD use.
- The fingerprint agency charges $49.26 for the appointment. This will be covered for all new substitutes during the 2022-2023 school year.
- Most fingerprint appointments will be held at the WISD HR Department.
- You must complete the fingerprint requirements to be eligible for employment.

Guest Educator New Hire Orientation
- After the hiring requirements have been met, you will receive an email inviting you to attend a Guest Educator New Hire Orientation. The orientation is required and will cover WISD policies as well as the use of the Frontline Absence Management system to find Guest Educator assignments. Please regularly check your inbox AND your spam mail.
- At the orientation/hiring meeting, you will complete the remaining hiring paperwork and provide proof of eligibility for employment (I-9 documents); this will be in-person at the Waco ISD Administration building in the HR Department (2nd floor). You are not hired until you have attended this session.
- Our New Hire sessions are limited monthly, so please be patient as we schedule as quickly as possible.
