    • Brazos High School is an alternative high school designed to provide a flexible, self-paced learning environment for students.  Our program enables students to recover credits in all subject areas, through a computer based instructional program that is aligned to the student’s graduation plan.  Students are registered into either the morning or afternoon session from 8am-12 noon or 12:30pm-4:30pm.  Due to the school being a “choice”, transportation is not provided

    • Lake Waco Acceleration Academy is a program under the Brazos High School umbrella that was piloted spring semester of 2017. LWAA is designed for overage 8th graders who have been previously retained and to accelerate their academics with their age appropriate peers. An application process is mandated for the program that initially takes place at the middle school campuses and before the start of each semester.  Enrollment into the program is not ongoing as the Brazos HS credit recovery program.  Students who successfully complete this acceleration program will have completed coursework provided over 3 semesters and 2 extended summers, entering Waco HS or University HS as juniors.

  • We would like to send a shout out to our Adopt-A-School Partner, Extraco Bank, for coming to campus to educate our students about financial literacy. During our lunch hour, Extraco representatives Krista and Dustin played a fun game of "Jeopardy," where students were able to answer questions about financial literacy and win prizes. Throughout the game, Krista and Dustin also explained the dos and don'ts of financial planning and gave advice on how to be money saavy. Thanks, Extraco! people standing with a board behind them

  • Restorative Practices has been heavily implemented this school year, spearheaded by our Restorative Discipline Facilitator Mr. Chris Wilson. Restorative practices foster an environment of belonging instead of exclusion, a method of building deep meaningful relationships, a tool for repairing harm, an alternative to punitive discipline and a learned behavior that is healthy for every person to embody. Brazos High/Lake Waco Acceleration Academy is skilled at using innovative restorative practices to create safe spaces on campus through violence prevention, circle process, restorative conversations and empathy development by listening to all issues involving the student, their families, friends, community and all stakeholders. Pictured is an example of the LWAA students with their teachers Mrs. Jacobo and Ms. Stone conducting a “get to know you” circle.people sitting in chairs
