School Bus Safety Tips

• Arrive 5 to 10 minutes before pickup time. DO NOT wait until the last minute.
• Stay on the sidewalk or grass. DO NOT step off the curb and onto the street until the bus is completely stopped.
• Hold onto the handrail when boarding the bus.
• Go directly to a seat, sit down, and buckle up (if there are seatbelts). 
• Remain seated while the bus is in motion. DO NOT stand.
• Keep voices low.
• Head and hands stay inside the bus and never hang out of the window.
• DO NOT throw things on the bus or play rough with friends or classmates.
• Keep the aisle clear at all times.
• Hold onto the handrail when exiting the bus.
• Only get off at your designated stop.
• When exiting the bus, walk at least 10 steps in front of the bus to make sure the driver sees you. NEVER walk behind the bus.
• Wait for the bus driver to signal that it is safe to cross. Be sure all cars on the road are at a complete stop.
• Get off of the street quickly.
• If you've forgotten something on the bus, call us to pick up your items another time. DO NOT run back and attempt to retrieve it.
• Do NOT EVER get into a stranger's car, even if they offer to take you home.
