Jose Reyna

José comes to the Bilingual and English Language Learner’s Department with a Master’s in Spanish Literature & Linguistics and a double major undergraduate degree in Spanish and Language & Linguistics, both from Baylor University. He is certified in Spanish language education, EC-12.

 He began with Waco ISD as an AVID tutor in the fall of 2015 and transitioned into our department as a Newcomer Support Specialist. In both positions he was able to teach, tutor, and strengthen students’ English language skills at both elementary and secondary levels. Thereafter, he became a Spanish teacher and taught for a year at University High School before a 6-year stint as a Spanish instructor at Baylor University. As a product of bilingual education in the Rio Grande Valley, he is returning to our department with a love for the intersection between bilingualism, education, and linguistics.

 His hobbies include going on short walks when he has time, watching and discussing TV shows, and being part of and participating within his faith congregation.
