Program Design

Middle school Gifted and Talented (GT) students at Waco ISD have the option to attend the Atlas Academy at Tennyson Middle School, Lake Air Montessori, or their home school.

The middle school GT program offers advanced courses in Math, Reading, Social Studies, and Science for gifted and high-achieving students. Waco ISD uses the Springboard curriculum (a component of College Board) for Reading and Math.

Students who score in the top 40% on the fifth-grade STAAR Math assessment have the opportunity to accelerate to Algebra in eighth grade.
