Dual Credit Partnership Agreement

TSTC Memorandum of Understanding Dual Enrollment

Dual Credit

Waco ISD offers a comprehensive list of dual credit offerings through McLennan Community College (MCC) and Texas State Technical College (TSTC) that may be taken on the MCC campus, at the high school campuses (WHS or UHS), at the Greater Waco Advanced Health Care Academy, the Greater Waco Advanced Manufacturing Academy or online. These courses allow students to make progress toward a college degree while completing their high school graduation requirements.

What is Dual Credit?
Dual credit courses are courses offered through a partner post-secondary institution that allow students to earn both high school credit and college credit simultaneously by successfully completing the courses.

What is the benefit of enrolling in Dual Credit coursework?
These courses expose students to the rigor of the college-level classroom, preparing them for entry into post-secondary education. Completion of these courses allows students to graduate with a degree sooner, thus saving money. Through the ACCELERATE program, students can strategically take dual credit courses throughout their four years of high school and graduate with both an Associate degree and a high school diploma at the same time.

What is the difference between Dual Credit and AP courses?

The majority of colleges in Texas accept Dual Credit. However, not all private institutions will allow credits to be transferred. On the other hand, all Texas colleges accept AP credits.
