Advanced Placement AP/PreAdv
ADVANCED PLACEMENT AP/PREADV
At the middle and high schools in Waco Independent School District, students are given the option of enrolling in Advanced Placement (AP), Pre-AP, or Pre-Advanced (Pre-ADV) courses. These courses, which either augment the TEKS or build on the skills dictated by the College Board, offer students more rigorous learning experiences that are equivalent to a college-level course. Advanced Placement courses allow students the ability to test in May for college credit, in addition to high school credit.
While Pre-AP and AP courses are only available at the High School level, Middle School Pre-Advanced Math and RLA programs use the College Board Springboard Curriculum, and the Pre-AP Shared principles are being incorporated throughout our Pre-Advanced Curriculum.
It is also possible for students to accelerate their learning and get ahead while in middle school to take a high school level course! If you are interested, inquire about CBE testing for single-subject acceleration!
