Principal's Message

  • Welcome Back Knights to the '22-'23 School Year!

Posted by Daphanie Latchison on 8/4/2022

    Greetings Knights Family,

It is truly a blessing to continue to serve as your principal.  I am grateful to be surrounded by the best staff that money can buy because they truly go to great lengths to serve our students' needs by meeting them where they are.  Many students pay tribute to our staff every year because they have been the lifeline to keep them swimming towards graduation. This past year, we produced the highest number of graduates in the existence of Brazos at a phenomenal 117, which was an increase from 78 graduates last year.  What a blessing it was to shake hands and witness these students fight through adversity, barriers, and walk proudly across the stage this past June.  I pray that this year is even greater, filled with more blessings by the lives that are positively changed.  Welcome back Knights, it's GAME TIME! Everything you do on and off the clock affects your time table of graduation. If I can be of assistance to you, don't hesitate to call the school. Let's have an awesome season (year)!!!!!
    Your Principal,
    Ms. Latchison

Ms. Jessica L Castillo

Hello Parents & Students of Waco ISD!

My name is Jessica Castillo and I am the proud Assistant Principal of Brazos High School Credit Recovery! This is my 13th year in Waco ISD and I look forward to many more! First and foremost, I am a mother to two beautiful boys that keep me busy all of the time. Hunter is 13 years old and Riley is 8. I am a graduate of The University of Texas of the Permian Basin where I obtained my undergrad in English Language Arts and my Master's degree in Educational Leadership. FALCON PRIDE! I was a proud Lady Falcon on the Women's Basketball Team, where I pursued my dream to play collegiate sports. After graduation, I got my first teaching job as an English Teacher and Coach at Waco High School, where I taught and coached a variety of sports for 9 years. This is my 4th year in administration and I am excited to co-lead such an amazing campus under our principal, Ms. Latchison. At Brazos High School we strive to provide young adults with an opportunity to graduate and earn their high school diploma, while instilling important life skills to carry over to college, the work force, or the military! I firmly believe in the foundation of authentic relationships to reach students and help them be successful! I am so excited for this year and work diligently each and everyday to ensure all students are safe, successful, and achieve their goals! On a side note, I am also the Campus Testing Coordinator here at Brazos HS Credit Recovery, so any testing questions reach out to me, I will be happy to assist you in any STAAR/IGC related questions that you have! Thank you!
