Cory H. Garrett - Director
Mr. Garrett (Tharts) began is theatrical career when he was six years old. After seeing Ringling Brothers and Barnum Bailey Circus, Tharts decided he would be a ringleader in his back yard. He is a native Texan who earned his Bachelor's Degree in Theatre from East Texas Baptist University. Before entering the education field, Tharts worked as a professional stage manager, assistant director, actor, and designer in Chicago and Germany. In his time at Waco High School he has worked hard to live out his life quote:
“Make no little plans. They have no magic to stir men's blood and probably themselves will not be realized. Make big plans; aim high in hope and work, remembering that a noble, logical diagram once recorded will never die, but long after we are gone will be a living thing, asserting itself with ever-growing insistency.” ~Daniel Burnham
Ashley-Elizabeth Vermeulen - Co-Director
Mrs. Vermeulen (Ms. V is just easier to say) began her performance career in vocal music when she was 7 years old. After her first stint onstage as an opera chorus member, she found a love of theatre and her performance focus quickly shifted. She pursued theatre throughout middle school and attended high school at a performing arts academy in San Antonio, Texas. Ms. V received her Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Education from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas in 2010 and has since worked in several theatres in both San Antonio and Austin as a performer, technician, and board member. Ms. V has taught theatre for 3 and a half years and is excited to spend her 4th (and hopefully many more) with Waco High.
