Degrees and Certifications:
Julie is a Baylor University graduate, with understudies at McLennan Community College. She started off in a smaller school district teaching 1st grade and has been with Waco ISD since 2006 where, over the years, she has taught 2nd grade, Gifted and Talented for grades 1-5, and ESL students for grades 6-8. Some of her other duties (other than teaching) included being the Adopt-a-School chair, LPAC chair, campus UIL coordinator, campus Education Foundation coordinator, mentor teacher, and assisting with TELPAS.
Julie found a new love for teaching when she taught English language learners. In 2016, she began her current job with the EL department and has felt very fortunate to be a part of this department and to able to work with many previous and new students. Being able to teach English learners in grades levels from kindergarten through 12th grade has been an enjoyable experience. She hopes she can help them acquire more English skills, while helping them become more confident in their second language and in life.
Julie has four children that have blessed her life. Her hobbies include spending time with her kids, getting stronger through various kinds of physical activities (weight lifting, running, and some boxing and jiu jitsu), traveling, doing art projects, hanging out with her special guy, and practicing Spanish.
