Mr. Larry Kling

Mr. Kling is the assistant principal of testing, assessment, and accountability and will be starting his seventh year with Waco High School. He has been with the district for eight years. Mr. Kling taught biology at Waco High from 2013-2017. He served as assistant principal of Cesar Chavez middle school during the 2017-18 school year and returned to the Pride of Waco in 2018 as an assistant principal. 

Mr. Kling earned a master of science in educational leadership from Baylor University and a bachelor of arts from Texas Tech University. Before starting his profession in public education, Mr. Kling served in the United States Army as a Noncommisioned Officer with the 173rd Infantry. He brings strong leadership with an emphasis on developing organizational structure through supportive and collaborative systems. 

Mr. Kling is married and has a son. He enjoys a healthy variety of both active and leisure activities to include outdoor adventures, fitness, music and traveling. His favorite holiday is Christmas.

This is my 10th year at Waco High. I am currently an assistant principal for the Class of 2021 and students served by special education services. I'm certified in special education and CTE in criminal justice. I am also the administrator for the AVID program, cheerleaders and drill team. I have three children - two boys and a girl. I have four grandchildren - two boys and two girls. I graduated from Jefferson Moore High School.

Mr. Daneric Johnson

Biography: Daneric Johnson is a native Wacoan. After High School, he matriculated at Prairie View A&M University where he majored in Broadcast Journalism. At Praire View, he was the captain of the University Debate team, Fraternal President of Gamma Phi Delta Christian Fraternity, Inc and member of the Mr. Prairie View Homecoming Court. After graduation, he went directly into Education and served inner-city Houston for more than 10 years. He held roles as a Classroom Teacher, Basketball Coach, Destination Imagination Coordinator, Instructional Specialist, and STAAR Interventionist. He returned home and became a member of the Waco ISD family, where he is excited to begin his new work! He brings with him passion, knowledge, and skill.

Personally, Mr. Johnson is married with two wonderful children. He enjoys hermeneutics, coaching youth sports, and travel.

Mrs. Ashley Bates

Mrs. Bates will be starting her third year in the district at Waco High School as an assistant principal. Before coming to Waco, Mrs. Bates taught English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) for Del Valle ISD and Killeen ISD. Over the years, Mrs. Bates has grown as an instructional leader and has become a steady influence with students and staff. She has learned how to remain steadfast when challenged with tough situations; and she strives to set a positive tone on what a fair, compassionate, and professional leader should look like on and off campus.

Mrs. Bates earned a bachelor of arts degree in communication studies from Ottawa University in Ottawa, KS, and a master of arts degree in educational administration from San Angelo State University in San Angelo, TX. 

Mrs. Bates is married with two biological children and three foster children that she hopes to adopt very soon. She is also a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. Mrs. Bates loves to read, garden, engage in arts and crafts projects, participate in outdoor activities, shop, and travel in her spare time. Her favorite saying is, “If you put God first, everything else will fall into place”.
