Targeting
Tomorrow was designed to showcase the many programs offered
in areas of Career & Technology Education and Guidance in
Waco ISD. It began with an idea to have a small segment featuring
students and teachers in the Career PATHs, as well as local businesses
that might employ or further train the students. It has now grown
to a featured 30 minutes show that runs daily on WISD-TV
cable channel 17 in Waco Texas.
Targeting Tomorrow seeks to develop career awareness
in students and acquaint the community with the growing opportunities
within Waco ISD for achieving skills, college credit, as well
as certifications while in high school. The show highlights one
program or interest each month, featuring different high schools
within Waco ISD.
The Career Counselor, Sharon Hetherington and Career Facilitator,
Bruce Christian, along with Jesse Botello, Waco ISD TV Channel
17 producer and the Coordinator of Career & Technology Education,
Donna McKethan, plan the shows one year in advance. Then writers
Sharon and Bruce begin researching the careers, integrating the
curriculum taught in the high school programs along with career
information and salaries. Jesse Botello, producer, vidoetapes
and edits, designs graphics, artwork, special effects as well
as post production of copies.
