Since 1882 when the first free public schools were established in the little town of Waco on the banks of the Brazos River, our public school system has served as a beacon of hope for many. Throughout the years, the citizens of Waco have continued to encourage pride and high standards in their schools.

As you browse through our website, you will discover useful information about our district and its campuses. Of particular interest is the news portion of the site where we openly boast about our many outstanding programs as well as the multitude of accomplishments of our students and staff.

Waco ISD serves a diverse population of students and works hard to provide a quality education for all. We encourage life-long learners and realize the value of professional development for teachers and administrators.

Our goal is to prepare students for a global society. Through a rich curriculum, competitive sports programs and award-winning fine arts programs we are providing our students with the life skills and tools they need to be successful both now and in the future.

Education is a partnership in Waco. Community and business leaders strongly support the education of students in Waco. The Adopt-A-School program has 200 businesses and organizations partnered with 32 schools. Since 1997 the Waco ISD Education Foundation has awarded over $645,000 in grants to teachers and schools to help make special programs a reality for students.
