
LEAVE AND ABSENCES
LEAVES
Waco ISD offers employees paid and unpaid leaves of absence
in times of personal need. Employees who have personal needs
that will required extended leaves of absence should contact
the Human Resources Department for conseling about leave options,
continuation of benefits and communicating with the district.
Human Resources must receive 30 days notice for a foreseeable
leave or as soon as practicable in unforeseen circumstances.
FAMILY MEDICAL LEAVE (FMLA)
Employees who have been employed by the district for at
least 12 months and for 1, 250 hours during the previous
12 month period shall be entitled to a total of 12 workweeks
of leave, without loss of any employment benefit accrued
prior to the beginning of the leave, during any 12 month
period for the birth, adoption, or foster placement of a
child; to cre for a spouse, parent, or child with a serious
health condition or an emplyee's serious health condition. Required FMLA Poster
TEMPORARY DISABILITY LEAVE
Any full-time employee whose position requires certification
from the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) is
eligible for temporary disability leave.
CATASTROPHIC LEAVE
The leave bank shall provide sick leave days for a serious
catastrophic illness or injury that incapacitates the employee
and that creates a financial hardship because the employee
has exhausted all accumulated state and local leave days.
Requesting days from the Catastrophic Leave Bank must complete
a Request form and provide a Certification of Physician
or Practioner form.
