General Description:
Lake Waco Montessori is a magnet school and families from across the district may apply to it. Lake Waco Montessori Magnet has an environmental focus plus a special education that provides all students with the opportunity of an inclusionary education experience.

Curriculum:
The Montessori Method is a developmental curriculum that provides a quiet, orderly curriculum environment in which students learn to be complex thinkers, self-directed learners, collaborative workers, quality producers, and community contributors. Classrooms are equipped with attractive sequential materials that progress from the concrete to the abstract.

Lake Waco Montessori provides a multi-age classroom environment. Student classrooms include: 1) Primary (ages 3-5) 2) Elementary (grades 1-3), and 3) Intermediate (grades 4-6) 4) Middle School (grades 7-8).

An Environmental Studies program is also provided to all students at Lake Waco Montessori. Students are learning the importance of taking care of our environment and how all living things interact on earth.

The Special Education Program provides a life skills program for handicapped students at Lake Waco. All students have the opportunity to become friends and partners in learning. Everyone is special at Lake Waco Montessori.

Extracurricular Programs:
After school activity program, gardening, composting, recycling, pet care and music lessons.

Special Programs:
Accelerated Reader Program, Reading Buddies, Computer Literacy (computers in all classrooms) Adopt-A-School volunteers, Waco Reads volunteers, Baylor special education student volunteers, McLennan Community College physical therapy student volunteers
