35th annual Youth Citizenship Awards

Abigail Garner & Miguel Jaramillo

Abigail Garner and Miguel Jaramillo are two of 24 students honored this year by the Rotary Club of Waco and the Waco Tribune-Herald for their community service work. The Outstanding Youth Citizen award ceremony is a longstanding tradition in Waco that provides recognition to high school seniors who put "Service Above Self."

Each of the 24 nominees was selected by his or her high school. Students submitted a detailed application listing their school achievements and volunteer activities. A letter of recommendation from someone familiar with their volunteer efforts is also a part of the application.
