CTE Students of the Year

Waco ISD Career and Technical Ed (CTE) continues to graduate students who are highly motivated and successful.

Students who take advantage of the career academy offerings coupled with rigorous academic courses finish high school better prepared to pursue their academic and career goals.

To showcase outstanding students, the “CTE Student of the Month” recognition program was created.

Each month, teachers on each high school campus nominate a CTE student of the month who exemplifies the qualities of leadership academic success, and a focus on career goals.

Students who receive this honor write an essay that includes the strengths of their chosen academy and their future plans.  These essays are featured on the CTE web site, and were also used by CTE directors across the state for scoring purposes.

The CTE Student of the Year for University High and Waco High, both seniors, were awarded at their respective CTE awards banquets in May.

At the Waco ISD Board of Trustees meeting on May 25, 2017, the 2016 – 2017 CTE Students of the Year were recognized.

Anna Stewart - University High School, and,
Ailynn Arrenivas - Waco High School

Based on that same scoring matrix, the CTE program is awarding an additional award for the very first time.

The Waco ISD CTE Student of the Year Award is a district wide award. This year, it was awarded to:
Ailynn Arrenivas from Waco High School.

Congratulations to both of these exceptional students. We wish you well in your future endeavors.
