Summer Interns are READY

Summer might be in full swing, but Waco ISD’s Summer Internship Program is just beginning

Thursday, Waco ISD kicked off the Summer Intern Program.  The program is in partnership with Prosper Waco, and this is the district’s second summer to offer the program.

This year, over 100 students applied for internship positions with 42 students earning placement with an employer.  This is a 200% increase in student participation over last year’s program.  The students will complete an 80-hour internship over the course of the summer.  Upon completion of their time commitment with their employer, they will receive a $600 stipend.

From banking, to automotive, to healthcare, and several City of Waco Departments; those are just a few types of businesses across the community who are participating in the program.  The idea is that students have first-hand experiences in possible future career choices, while at the same time, getting a true idea whether or not what they thought they wanted to do is actually the career path they would like to pursue.

Interns Rock!
