Memorial Service

The members of the Waco ISD police department Color Guard participated in the annual Police Memorial Service on May 18th. The annual service, in remembrance of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty, was held at the Peace Officers Memorial site on the north end of Indian Spring Park.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week.

Currently, tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world converge on Washington, DC to participate in a number of planned events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. The Memorial Service began in 1982.

We want to honor and recognize the fine officers and staff who make up the Waco ISD Police department led by chief Ken Boatman. We thank you for all that you do to keep students and staff safe and how well you represent us in the community.
