The Association for Career and Technical Education’s “Administrator of the Year” Award recognizes administrative CTE professionals at the school, district, county, state or federal level who have demonstrated leadership in ensuring teacher and student success and have made significant contributions toward innovative, unique and effective career and technical education programs.

This award, which encompasses ACTE’s Region 4, is given to one finalist from a five-state region.

Through the creation, development and expansion of Waco ISD’s highly successful Greater Waco Advanced Academies, I think we all know who this finalist could be.

This administrator has developed innovative programing that has garnished local, state, and national recognition.

This administrator has a gift for bringing stakeholders together and leading them through the process of creating cutting-edge opportunities for students.

This administrator has facilitated the creation of multi-district post-secondary readiness schools that focus on advanced manufacturing and healthcare that prepare students for certification or entrance into a two-year or four-year college.

This administrator has developed partnerships with multiple civic organizations to boost work-based learning and internships.

This administrator is proud of students that find fulfilling careers.

It is an honor and privilege to announce that the Association for Career and Technology Education 2017 Region 4 “Administrator of the Year” hails from the Lone Star State of Texas: Mrs. Donna McKethan, Director of Career and Technical Education for Waco ISD.

This award now qualifies Mrs. McKethan as a national finalist and she will be honored at the Association’s national awards banquet in December.

Congratulations, Donna.
