Bacteria Round Up

Bacteria Round Up

Students Jefferson Gunn's WHS class recently participated in a lab to seek out bacteria.Students travelled around the school and collected bacteria on common items.

After placing the different bacteria (separated by location) in growth medium, the bacteria was allowed to grow. The lab focused on understanding the bacteria in the world around us.

Bacteria is commonly found everything but what is even more surprising is that students found large amounts of bacteria on common items that we use on a daily basis. The students swabbed phones, backpacks, desks, hands, etc. These are items that the students come in contact with on a regular basis. It allows the students to have a larger understanding of the bacteria that we come in contact with on a daily basis.
