The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) awarded Waco Independent School District (Waco ISD) a $220,870 Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grant. The grant will help the school district purchase and install equipment to provide 175 students with training for careers in the automotive services profession.
The JET program provides funding for equipment to eligible educational institutions for the purpose of developing career and technical education courses and may include courses offering dual-credit and technical education programs. The equipment must be used to train students in high-demand occupations that include automotive service technicians and mechanics and diesel engine specialists.
TWC Commissioner Representing Labor Julian Alvarez presented a check to representatives from Waco ISD at a ceremony held at Waco High School, Tuesday.
