Two Waco High visual arts students experienced a special surprise in October by being awarded a cash prize. Laura Torres and Tony Flores received $100 each as a result of their artwork winning "people's choice" awards at the 40th annual Centex Hispanic Chamber of Commerce banquet held on October 22. Waco High art instructor Heather Hughes put together a fantastic display of student artwork that proved to be a highlight of the banquet. The more than 300 attendees had the opportunity to vote on their favorite piece. After the votes were tallied, Laura and Tony finished in a tie. The Chamber graciously decided to reward both students.
