Ten Waco ISD science and math teachers have been recognized for completing training and mentoring fellow teachers through the Texas Regional Collaboratives for Excellence in Science & Mathematics Teaching. The ten were honored at a special ceremony November 14 at the Region XII Education Service Center.

The honorees included science teachers Diane Buxkemper, Donald Densmore, Rick Fisk, Theresa Lloyd and Sharon Orcutt; and math teachers Jennifer Bonn, Vicky Brown, Janet Joiner, Josh Moore and Melissa Sulak.

The program enabled teachers to learn the latest techniques to engage students in science and math learning experiences. The mentors return to their schools to assist other teachers in incorporating these methods into their curriculum. The science teachers mentored a minimum of three teachers and obtained 105 hours of training. The math teachers obtained 85 hours of training.
