Two students bound for National History Day

Two Waco ISD students will compete at National History Day after their research and resulting products were deemed best at state competition in Austin.
Tanner Haney, a sixth-grader at Lake Air Intermediate and Corey Roberts, a junior at Waco High School, have earned a trip to College Park, Maryland in June.
Haney created a video documentary about former professional baseball player Curt Flood who challenged the reserve clause in Major League Baseball contracts in 1969. The case eventually made it all the way to the Supreme Court.
Roberts authored an historical paper about Frank J. Robinson and his fight against racial gerrymandering in deep East Texas designed to dilute the black vote.
Congratulations Tanner and Corey, and best of luck at nationals.
