Sharon Hetherington, Waco ISD Coordinator of Counseling, has been named "Region 4 Guidance Counselor of the Year" by the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE). Sharon was previously named "Texas Guidance Counselor of the Year" by the same organization, and then moved forward in the competition to the regional awards. Sharon will represent Waco ISD, the state of Texas and ACTE’s five-state Region 4 at the National ACTE conference to be held in Atlanta in November.

The purpose of the ACTE Career Guidance Award is to recognize school counselors and career development professionals who are currently making significant contributions in career and technical education (CTE) programs in their communities and/or states.
