Facility houses state-of-the-art equipment
With great excitement on March 3, 2015, Waco ISD dedicated a new building at the Greater Waco Advanced Manufacturing Academy that, in the years to come, will be used to teach industrial skills to thousands of Central Texas students.
The students come from University High, Waco High and ten partnering school districts. At GWAMA, they have an opportunity to learn skills that are in high demand in Waco as well as Texas and the nation.
Much more than a trade school, GWAMA introduces students to the world of welding and precision metal manufacturing while also teaching math and science skills that are mandatory to acquire today's high-tech industrial jobs. The new 12-thousand square foot facility will provide a place to teach precision manufacturing as students gain experience working with state-of-the art welding equipment, lathes and mills.
