Waco ISD and MCC renew agreement
Waco Independent School District and McLennan Community College have renewed their agreement entitled College Connection. The goal of the College Connection is to help students realize the opportunities that exist after high school—specifically attending college. The program will provide one-on-one support at no cost to seniors at participating Waco ISD schools to help them navigate the college enrollment process.
Through College Connection, students will complete college applications, take college readiness assessments, receive career and academic advising, and take campus tours. Students and their parents will also receive assistance in completing a financial aid application, and students will receive an acceptance letter to MCC at their graduation ceremonies.
"Applying for college and the associated financial aid can be a daunting task for a family that has never dealt with such issues," said Dr. Bonny Cain, Waco ISD superintendent. "This partnership will open doors for many of our students and families by giving them the valuable assistance they need."
College Connection was created in response to the state’s Closing the Gaps initiative, which seeks to increase student enrollment in higher education.
