Cris Leary, ELL Department Administrative Assistant, has been with Waco I.S.D. for ten years. She came to the district from L3 Communications where she served as secretary for the Data Services Department working with various Federal and Navy Programs. Mrs. Leary started out here at Waco I.S.D. as secretary for the Even Start Program, then secretary to the Content Specialists in the Curriculum Department, moved on to secretary for State and Federal Programs, and now has been with the ELL department for seven years.
Mrs. Leary organizes and manages the routine work activities of the ELL department with great efficiency. She is truly an administrative assistant to everyone in the ELL department in every way. She performs budgeting duties, assists with training sessions and meetings, collects pertinent data and organizes it into useable forms, prepares memoranda, reports, agendas, requisitions, and many other communications all in English and Spanish. These are just a few of Mrs. Leary’s responsibilities.
“What I like best about my job,” Mrs. Leary explains, “is the continuity. I know what I have to do and I do it. I also like the fact that in this department, we help students new to the district better themselves by learning a second language.” Mrs. Leary is married with one child; a daughter, three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Her hobbies include reading and scrapbooking.
