Compensatory Education Services

Mission

To improve student achievement through district and campus parental involvement, the effective use of compensatory budgets, professional development opportunities in instructional strategies which focus on needs of at risk learners, and monitoring supplemental services of students.

Services and Responsibilities

  • Provide Parental Involvement Workshops; ESEA Advisory Committee Workshops

  • Provide assistance to campuses for identification of students at risk of dropping out of school and in developing Individual Learning Plans for identified students

  • Provide professional development in teaching strategies for assisting struggling learners to reach state standards of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills

  • Collaborate with Office of Accountability and Instruction regarding district/campus state assessment results as related to required NCLB Adequate Yearly Progress

  • Collaborate with Offices of Human Resource and Professional Development assuring hiring and training of Highly Qualified Teachers and Instructional Paraprofessionals

  • Collaborate with private nonprofit schools pertaining to federal grant submissions

  • Submit, monitor, amend and file compliance reports for assigned TEA grant applications

  • Provide policy guidance to district and campuses in use of state and federal compensatory budgets

  • Oversee compliance of compensatory programs and summer school
