FAFSAAt the end of January, you (if you worked) and your parents should be receiving information from an employer that you will use to file your tax return. Once you have the tax information from all the sources (banks, employers, brokers, and other income sources), you should be ready to file your income taxes. About 10 days after filing your taxes, you should be ready to file your Free Application for Financial Student Aid (FAFSA). REMEMBER to list each college that you are thinking about attending on the FAFSA. Many experts recommend that you list the school you want to attend first and any “backup” schools second.

Both the student and one parent will need a FAFSA PIN number to file your FAFSA electronically. If you have not obtained this PIN number, you should go ahead and apply for this information at:
