More Information

BATT: Bulldog Access To Technology implements a two prong approach in utilizing the wireless laptops. The first approach is assisting students in science classes to gather and produce scientific data technologically. Utilizing state-of-art equipment and software, students will be able to conduct experiments with the expertise used in real world scientific settings. The second approach is to assist parents in becoming familiar and comfortable with technology. Eleventh grade students in the Academy of Information Technology will conduct training sessions with parents utilizing Microsoft Office programs and the Internet. These students will be given training in teaching adult learners.

Small Steps Today - One Giant Leap for Waco High Technology will integrate the use of technology in business and science classes. Teachers in both areas will utilize the wireless laptops to assist students to produce creative, technological projects. Students will be able to check out the laptops to support after school group activities. Parents and community members will be able to utilize the technology in before and after school programs.

Trojan Technology will introduce or reinforce computer technology to at-risk and economically disadvantaged students who would otherwise have little or not access to the computer. Community sessions will also provide a multitude of opportunities to utilize technology in everyday living. Project sessions will include: do-it-yourself projects, tax time help, financial aid/scholarship assistance, on-line college application completion, virtual college tours, resume writing, letter writing, and general computer introduction.

Raven Reading Research implements the utilization of technology to access the Internet for research with fourth and fifth grade students. These students will be actively engaged in three concrete research projects. Parents will also be working and assisting students in completing these projects.

Community Helping Hands approaches the utilization of technology through a variety of methods. Students who come to this after school program will use the technology to increase math and language arts proficiency by actively working on software programs that support the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) state curriculum. A computer program for parents and community members is in development and will be introduced in the near future. The adult education portion of the program will provide access to a variety of computer classes as well as literacy improvement classes.
