ADVANCED TECHNICAL CREDIT
Advanced Technical Credit is an advanced placement program to provide a method for high school students who continue technical programs of study in college to receive credit for knowledge and skill without duplication of coursework. Students successfully demonstrating college-level competence in specific high school courses are eligible to receive credit for courses that are part of an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree or certificate plan offered by two-year colleges. Some universities may also honor these courses, particularly those that offer BAAS or BSIS degrees. Students must complete the course with a grade of 80 or better to receive college credit. Courses count as an Advanced Measure for the Distinguished Achievement Program. Advanced Technical Credit (ATC) courses are recognized by most two-year colleges statewide.

Any Texas Community College or Technical College (including MCC & TSTC) offering the equivalent college course must award college credit to a student who earns at least an 80 in the course. These courses will be coded with an “A” on the high school transcript as a signal to the college registrars that a student may be eligible for the award of advanced technical credit. These courses count as an Advanced Measure on the DAP graduation plan.
